Affordable Care Act’s 2015 Open Enrollment: NEW WEBSITE GOES LIVE NOVEMBER 15

Project leadership will brief public Thursday, Friday about website readiness, consumer outreach and command center monitoring going into first weekend of the Affordable Care Act’s 2015 Open Enrollment period

mahealthconnector.orgBOSTON – Wednesday, November 12, 2014 – Tomorrow, Maydad Cohen, the Governor’s Special Assistant for Project Delivery, and John Santelli, Chief Information Officer for Optum, the state’s Systems Integrator, will update the public on the launch of MAhealthconnector.org, the Commonwealth’s revamped health insurance Exchange website, during the Health Connector Board of Directors meeting. The system will go-live at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, allowing people who need coverage to sign up for the health and economic benefits of the Affordable Care Act.

Open Enrollment is the time when anyone can apply for health care. People who meet income eligibility requirements can get help paying for their coverage through the Health Connector or free coverage through MassHealth. During Open Enrollment, current Health Connector or temporary MassHealth members must submit a new application if they want to continue to receive their health insurance through the Commonwealth.

Important details are included below to help you report on the countdown and first several days of Open Enrollment. The media will play an important public service role in getting information out about who needs to take action to maintain their insurance, how the uninsured can sign up for the first time and ways to get help with the application process. Jason Lefferts (617-869-4894) and Kim Haberlin (617-470-9686) will be your primary points of contact and can assist with requests throughout the remainder of the week and weekend. Please RSVP to this email if you plan on covering the Friday briefing. We will respond with directions to the Massachusetts Operations Command Center.
