Fun in Pawtucket! The 16th annual Pawtucket Arts Festival event opens through Sept. 28, 2014.
Now over a decade old, the Pawtucket Arts Festival has become a staple of September in Rhode Island. The 16th annual event opens today, with a Taste of the Valley food fair at the Slater Mill Historic Site. Visitors may enjoy cooking from some of the best Rhode Island chefs, while sampling the wares of Pawtucket’s Foolproof Brewery, a rising star among craft beer makers.
A perennial highlight, the dragon boat races, takes place tomorrow, starting at 9 a.m., on the Seekonk River. Through Sept. 28, there will be no shortage of activities, from theatrical productions, concerts and film screenings ton tours of artists’ studios and classic car displays.
Next weekend, the action shifts to Slater Park, where a two-day fall celebration will feature a performance by the Rhode Island Philharmonic.
This year’s festival promises something for everyone. The festival website, www.pawtucketartsfestival.org, has more details.
