The documentary movie was very well received at the closing night ceremony of the Cape Verdean American Film Festival 2014 at the GALA Theatre in DC, hosted by the actor, director, producer and founder of the Legacy Media Institute International Film Festival, Tim Reid.

CONTRACT, a 79-minute docudrama film explores aspects of the African Diaspora, history and culture that are not widely known or are normally overlooked in mainstream, popular and scholarly discourse. Directed By: Guenny K. Pires

Mr. Reid said “Pires’s story is very powerful, emotional, touching and lovely. Guenny knows the story he wants to tell.He tells the story of his mother; we all have mothers and this pulls you in emotionally. He choreographed the story in a way that took us on a journey. There was a release and pleasure through the tears and there was joy at the end. He gives you what Hollywood won’t; a winning moment at the end”.

The audience in the 320 seat auditorium traveled with Pires to São Tomé, Fogo, Cape Verde and Boston, Massachusetts in the 79 minute documentary, and experienced the grief, the sadness, the joy and excitement of the director as he chronicles his journey.

The audience was treated to a question and answer session and an opportunity to meet the man himself. Congratulations to Txan Film and Guenny Pires and your selection for the 2014 Cape Verdean Film Festival in Washington, DC.

Contract has won acclaim with the Best Feature Film Award at the 4th Annual Cape Verde International Film Festival, the award for Best Documentary at the Roxbury International Film Festival, and winner of the Audience Favorite Award for a documentary at the Pan African Film Festival.
