Harwich native Amanda Raneo Chilaka will talk about her new book “Early Cape Verdean & Portuguese Genealogy of Harwich, MA” at this program, sponsored by the Harwich Historical Society and Brooks Free Library.

Chilaka began researching family history with her grandfather, John Raneo, a longtime Harwich police chief, which led her to study the histories of other local Cape Verdeans families.

“My hope is to preserve the history of Cape Verdeans who settled in Harwich and to help people begin their own genealogical research,” she noted.  Chilaka will have copies of her book for sale.

Author will discuss Cape Verdean history in Harwich, Massachusetts
