The 2013 Brockton city elections on Tuesday, Sept. 17, with a preliminary vote to narrow candidates.

city mayorThe 2013 city elections will kick off on Tuesday,  Sept. 17, with a preliminary vote to narrow the field of candidates.

The four-way race for mayor, with incumbent Linda Balzotti and challengers Bill Carpenter, Chris MacMillan and Ron Matta,  will be narrowed to two candidates who will face-off in the final election on Tuesday Nov. 5.

With two longtime incumbents not seeking re-election to their at-large City Council posts, a deluge of candidates have entered the race alongside the two remaining incumbents. That field will be narrowed to eight after the Sept. 17, who will then compete for the four at-large seats. There are also three-way preliminary races in Ward’s 5 and 7.

The candidates for City Councilor at-large are Dawn Carr, Patrick Quinn, Jass Stewart, Robert Sullivan, Steven Foote, Elliot Miller, Shaynah Barnes, Moises Rodrigues, Craig Pina, James Daley, Gary Kieth Sr., Paul Beckner, Nicholas Fernandes, Anthony Donegan and Jacob Tagger Jr.

The candidates for the Ward 7 City Council seat are Timothy Sullivan, Shirley Asack and Richard Zaccaro. The candidates for Ward 5 are Dennis DeNapoli, Anne Beauregard and Ollie Spears.
