Cape Verdean Veterans Memorial Project Receives a Major Donation

Quincy MA – The Consul General of Cabo Verde, Herminio Moniz presented a twenty thousand dollars check to Cape Verdean Veterans Memorial Project on behalf of the Government of Cabo Verde.  This donation was received by members of the Cape Verdean Veterans Memorial Project and represents a significant contribution in efforts to complete construction of the memorial one year after the groundbreaking ceremony that was held on September, 2017 and attended by the President and the Prime Minister of Cabo Verde, Rhode Island State and Federal elected officials.

The presentation was held Consulate General of Cabo Verde on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 2:00 PM. In attendance: Rhode Island Director of Veteran’s Affairs, Kasim Yarn, Cape Verdean Veterans Memorial Project Director, Lucy Rose, Riverside Stone, Jack Afonso.

The Cape Verdean Veteran’s Memorial Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. CVVM Project’s goal is to install a monument in the RI Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in recognition of the contribution of Cape Verdean Veterans who served in the US Armed Forces. The Monument project has been registered and approved by the Rhode Island office of Veteran’s Affairs.  This memorial will be the first of its kind in a US state/federal site.
