FREE ISSUANCE OF IDENTIFICATION CARDS (B.I.) FOR THE PURPOSE OF 2016 ELECTION
Quincy, December 18, 2015 – The Consulate General of Cabo Verde in the United States hereby informs all those interested and the entire Cabo Verdean community that, Decree-Law 66/2015 of December 10, 2015 (see attached copy) establishes free issuance of Identification Cards (B.I.) for the purpose of 2016 election.
This free issuance, however, covers only citizens with temporary voter registration, and those over eighteen (18) years of age, or who turn eighteen (18) three (3) days before the date Presidential election, and have no identification card … “(Article 2, nr. 1 of said Decree).
A certificate issued by the Voter Registration Committee (CRE) or a copy of the registration note, constitutes proof of temporary registration.
Those interested in obtaining an identification card (B.I.) under the conditions and for the purposes mentioned above, should go to the headquarters of the Consulate General at 300 Congress Street, Suite 204, Quincy, MA 02169, or to the Consular Service Pots in Dorchester (Wednesdays); Brockton (Tuesdays and Fridays), and Pawtucket, (Thursdays).
Birth certificates normally required in the issuance of BI, can, for this purpose, be obtained at no cost, using Casa do Cidadao at the Consulate General or at the post in Brockton.
